We were very fortunate to be able to visit the La Marzocco factory in beautiful Florence, Italy in September of 2018. We weren't sure if we'd be able to get a tour since it was a fairly last minute request and they were about to be hosting their annual "Family Days" company wide get together. However, they pulled a few strings and we were able to sneak in! Thanks so much to Mike and Anna-Lyssa!
What a treat to have a shot of Illy Coffee (one of many International roasters featured at the factory cafe/bar) served on a limited edition La Marzocco!
After being given a brief history of the company (founded in 1927 by Giuseppe and Bruno Bambi) we were able to see many of the machines that made them a household word. From the Fiorenza (pictured below) to the Linea, with it's innovative double boiler, (one for steam allowing ample pressure for steaming milk and one for coffee with a lower temperature suitable for coffee) we were able to see up close the innovations and craftsmanship of these two geniuses!
It's a truly beautiful operation! From the game room to the greenhouse (growing coffee!) it seems as though everything has been designed with the employee in mind! It's hard to even call it a factory! There's even a nursery/playroom for children!
As someone who's had the pleasure of being a barista and working on La Marzocco machines for 25 years, it was a great joy to visit such an inspiring, artistic and legendary company! Thanks La Marzocco!
